The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr David Siloko, has commended former House of Representatives aspirant Hon. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete PhD (JP) for enrolling over 400 indigents of Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency into a health insurance scheme.
Speaking on April 7, 2025, at the PDP Secretariat in Otor-Udu, Mr. Siloko described Dr. Akpodiete as a passionate leader committed to the wellbeing of his people. He noted that while some use personal celebrations for parties, Dr. Akpodiete chose to invest in the health of his constituents, urging others to emulate his example.
In his remarks, Dr. Akpodiete, Executive Director of the Olotu & Rowland Ekuogbe Akpodiete Foundation, thanked the people of Ughelli North, South, and Udu for their support. He revealed that this was the second phase of the health insurance initiative, having enrolled over 100 indigents in the previous phase.
Despite not holding a government position, Dr. Akpodiete affirmed his commitment to community service, driven by passion rather than political ambition.
Recently, he was honoured with the Health Insurance Ambassador Award by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for being the first to sponsor indigent registrations in the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme within Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency.
Beneficiaries of the scheme praised Dr. Akpodiete for his humanitarian efforts, praying for greater opportunities for him to continue his good works.
