The programme which took place at the Sapele Main Market and the Amukpe Market, Sapele Government Areas, saw thousands of Market Women and Okada riders, deferring the heavy downpour to receive the Senator’s financial aid to petty traders and Okada riders.

The APC Senator said that he came to thank the people of Sapele for their support during and after the 2015 elections, saying that it’s only an ingrate that will not show appreciation, assuring them of purposeful representation at the Senate.

He promised never to betray the trust and confidence reposed on him by the good people of Sapele and Urhobo Nation, stressing that the Urhobo’s national interest would always be his legislative priority.

According to Senator Omo-Agege, “Even though I have only been in the Senate for a year and half, it is not an excuse for my people not to feel my presence as a true son of Urhobo, representing the interest of the Urhobo Nation in the National Assembly. In just this short period of time, I have been able to ensure the passage of certain bills that have direct effect on us as a people, which of course is my primary duty in the National Assembly.

“You all know the only federal university we have in Delta State is in Urhoboland, The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE). This school is suppose to be one of the best things that ever happened to us, but because of poor legislative work by those who represented us before now, the school is not getting the right funding from the Federal Govt. But by the special grace of God and by your support, I sponsored the bill that will make the school get proper funding from the Federal Government.

“Because of my high regard for our mothers, our wives and our sisters, I think daily of how to make life better for them, that is why today through your support, I have been able to sponsor and passed a bill that protects our daughters and sisters from sexual harassments in our higher institutions, now no lecturer or anybody can fail our daughters and sisters because they refused to heed to their sexual advances. I believe this is good news for the women folks.

“I will not say much about my achievements for now, because I have already scheduled a date with the leadership of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) where I would be giving account of my stewardship to the entire Urhobo People at Uviamughe.

I know you all may have heard of the assassination attempt on me and my family, just to stop me from reaching out to my people, but all I can assure you, I will never relent in my struggle, I will do anything within my powers to attract development to Urhoboland, I will fight for my people, until the average Urhobo man or woman is free from the shackles of poverty, I will fight,” he added.
