Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko, has announced the commencement of a free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration programme for 1,500 students ahead of the 2026 academic year.
The initiative, designed to expand access to tertiary education and deepen human capital development, targets students across the nine local government areas of Delta North, namely Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South and Ukwuani.
In a statement issued on Monday, Senator Nwoko described education as the cornerstone of sustainable development, stressing that financial constraints should not deny qualified students the opportunity to pursue higher education.
“Education is the foundation upon which lasting development is built. This initiative is part of my commitment to supporting young people and ensuring equal access to learning opportunities,” he said.
According to him, prospective beneficiaries must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, and are required to generate a JAMB Profile Code using their National Identification Number (NIN). Applicants are also to provide their full name, profile code and council ward for documentation and verification.
The senator disclosed that the free registration exercise will run until Sunday, February 15, 2026, with interested candidates expected to apply through the designated online portal.
Reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment, Senator Nwoko said he would continue to advance policies and programmes that strengthen the social and economic future of Delta North.
He added, “This programme reflects our resolve to invest in the next generation and secure the future of our communities.”
The free JAMB registration is expected to ease the financial burden on families and encourage more young people in the district to seek admission into tertiary institutions.
