Senator Narrowly Escapes Death in Imo as Police Officer Killed in Attack

The residence of Senator Patrick Ndubueze, representing the Imo-North senatorial district (Okigwe zone), was attacked by unknown gunmen on Monday.

The unfortunate incident led to the death of a police officer, who was the Senator’s orderly.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Henry Okoye, the assailants engaged the operatives of the command in a gun duel but were eventually overpowered, resulting in the tragic loss of the officer.

The Commissioner of Police has directed the command’s tactical team to go all out and hunt those responsible for the attack.

Senator Patrick Ndubueze was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections. The attack occurred at his residence in Okigwe, where the gunmen began shooting sporadically.

As the police are on top of the situation, it is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by Nigeria, and the need for stronger measures to ensure the safety of its citizens and representatives.
