Governor Agbu Kefas recently announced that all secondary school teachers must possess a master's degree.

This announcement has sparked a wave of excitement and anticipation among the education community.

During a dinner with journalists in Jalingo on January 7, 2024, Governor Kefas emphasized the importance of raising the bar for teaching in the state's secondary schools.

He believes that by requiring a master's degree, the quality of education will be significantly improved.

The governor also mentioned that primary school teachers in the state must have a university first degree.

This is a significant change from the current minimum requirement of a National Certificate of Education (NCE).

In addition to the new academic qualifications, Governor Kefas announced the reintroduction of History as a subject in the basic education curriculum.

He hopes that this will lay a solid foundation for accelerated development in the state.

The Taraba State Government's decision to raise the minimum academic qualifications for teachers has been met with enthusiasm from various stakeholders in the education sector.

Many believe that this move will lead to a more competitive learning environment and ultimately produce better-equipped students.
