Sanwo-Olu remains Lagos goveror as Appeal Court confirms his election

The Election Petition Appeal panel in Lagos today upheld the re-election of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Kehinde Obafemi Hamzat as the governor and deputy governor of Lagos State, respectively.

It agreed with the Lagos State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which confirmed the victory of Sanwo-Olu on September 25.

The panel rejected an appeal by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Olajide Adeniran, a.k.a. Jandor.

The panel said the appeal had no merit.

At the time of writing this report, the panel is delivering the judgement on the appeal by the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor.

It ruled that the appellants could not prove their claims of forgery and non-qualification against Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat.

“The appellants (PDP and Adeniran) came to court with nothing and left with nothing. They just had their day in court. Their petition is dismissed.
