Cristiano Ronaldo says he'd love to face Lionel Messi and Argentina at the 2026 World Cup. He made the comments after bagging two goals in Portugal's 4-0 rout of Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
The victory put Portugal atop Group K standings with four points. Ronaldo told reporters a meeting with Messi would be "top," though he downplayed the question.
"My focus was on today," he explained to the gathered media. The 39-year-old striker added: "We won, I scored twice, and we're moving forward as a team."
If Portugal tops their qualifying group, they'll face Argentina in the World Cup quarter-finals. Ronaldo expressed satisfaction with his performance and his team's progress on the night.
