Rivers United: The Best Club in Nigeria

Rivers United, a former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champion, has been ranked as the best club in Nigeria by Opta, a statistics and analytics website. Opta released the rankings for clubs across the continent based on the “Elo algorithm”, which is used to analyse match results from over 2.5 million games since 1990.

According to Opta, Rivers United are ranked 30th on the continent, ahead of any other Nigerian club. The second-best team from Nigeria is Enyimba, who are 62nd in Africa. Akwa United are 82nd, Plateau United are 101st, and Bendel Insurance are 199th.

Rivers United have been impressive in the NPFL this season, as they are currently second on the table with 66 points from 34 games, just one point behind leaders Akwa United. They have also qualified for the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will face Algerian side JS Kabylie.

The ranking by Opta is a testament to the quality and consistency of Rivers United, who have been one of the most successful clubs in Nigeria in recent years.
