Rivers APC Accuses Governor Fubara of Plotting to Declare State Assembly Illegal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of plotting to obtain an interim order to declare the state House of Assembly illegal.

The allegation comes amidst a political crisis in the state, with the opposition party expressing concerns over the governor’s recent statements and actions.

Tony Okocha, the State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, made the claims during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

He stated that Governor Fubara’s recent outburst during an address to members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at Government House, Port Harcourt, was an indication of his intentions to escalate tensions and disrespect President Bola Tinubu.

During his speech, Governor Fubara declared that he would not be deterred by detractors and would respond with force if provoked.

He urged members of the NULGE in the state to prepare and brace themselves, warning that the next phase would be “fire for fire.”

The Rivers State chapter of the APC has expressed concern over Governor Fubara’s alleged plans to obtain an interim order declaring the state House of Assembly illegal.

The party believes that such actions could further destabilize the political climate in the state and undermine the democratic process.

The unfolding situation in Rivers State has caught the attention of political analysts and observers, as the allegations and counter-allegations between the APC and Governor Fubara’s administration continue to fuel tensions.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how the state’s political landscape will be affected and whether Governor Fubara’s alleged plans will come to fruition.

This latest development highlights the ongoing political challenges in Nigeria, as various factions and parties vie for power and influence in the country’s complex and competitive political environment.

The outcome of this situation in Rivers State could have significant implications for the broader political landscape in Nigeria, particularly as the country navigates its way through a period of political transition and uncertainty.
