Lukman Urges Ganduje to Align with Tinubu’s Vision or Resign as APC Chairman

Former National Vice Chairman North-west, Dr. Salihu Lukman, has called on the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, to either align himself with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the development of Nigerian democracy or resign from his position.

In a letter dated April 2, 2024, and leaked to the press on Thursday in Kaduna, Lukman expressed his concerns regarding Ganduje’s leadership, stating that it is not in line with the vision of President Tinubu.

He argued that under Ganduje’s leadership, the party has failed to hold National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, which are supposed to occur at least once every quarter.

Additionally, the obligation of presenting quarterly financial reports on income and expenditure has not been respected.

Lukman further criticized the lack of a clearly defined funding framework for the party, suggesting that this has led to the National Working Committee (NWC) members, including Ganduje, being reduced to “beggars” at the mercy of elected representatives.

He also pointed out that party organization has been weakened in the North-West region, where Ganduje comes from, with leadership crises emerging in many states.

Lukman emphasized that President Tinubu’s decision to hand over the party’s leadership to Ganduje raises questions about his vision for the APC.

He urged Ganduje to either adjust and align himself with President Tinubu’s vision for the party or resign from his position as National Chairman.

This call for alignment or resignation comes at a time when the APC is facing internal challenges and is in a period of political transition.

The outcome of this situation could have significant implications for the party’s future, as it navigates the complex landscape of Nigerian politics and strives to develop the country’s democracy.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Ganduje will heed Lukman’s call to align with President Tinubu’s vision or if he will choose to resign from his position as National Chairman of the APC. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
