Enrique Riquelme wants to be Real Madrid's next president. The 37-year-old claims he's already secured deals for Manchester City stars Erling Haaland and Rodri.
Riquelme made the bold assertion during an appearance on El Hormiguero Wednesday night. He told the show that Haaland has a release clause and desperately wants the move.
According to him, both players are keen on joining the Spanish giants. He's even put his money where his mouth is with a legal guarantee.
"If I become president and fail to deliver on these promises, I'll pay 100% of membership fees for all 100,000 Real Madrid members," Riquelme explained. He's essentially betting his own fortune on keeping his word.
Riquelme added that Haaland's contract contains a clause allowing his exit. The striker wants to wear the white jersey, the candidate insisted.
He faces incumbent Florentino Perez in the presidential election this weekend. Real Madrid supporters will decide between the two contenders very soon.
