Return home for Christmas, you’re safe, Soludo tells Anambra people

The governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has called on the people of the state to come back home and enjoy the Christmas and New Year festivities with their loved ones, assuring them that the state is secure.

His press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, who spoke on his behalf, said the governor has given guarantees and unwavering dedication to the protection of lives and property in every corner of the state.

He said, “Anambra is no longer a place of dread but a place of delight, filled with peace, joy, and goodwill this season and beyond.

“As you are getting ready for your journeys and celebrations, you may recall those gloomy days in Anambra State when kidnappers reigned and fear of unknown gunmen haunted every move, and you trembled. Relax, because those gloomy days are over for good in our state.

“Governor Soludo has dramatically improved the security situation in Anambra State. He erected a barrier, creating the Ministry of Homeland Affairs focused on security, collaborating with all branches of state security agencies, and equipping vigilant warriors—your own neighbours, trained and prepared as Anambra Vigilantes.

“Now, monitoring eyes are everywhere observing, joint security teams are roaming the streets, and criminal traces are disappearing.”

The governor, however, reminded the people that security was a shared duty, urging the various communities to be alert.

He also appealed to the traditional rulers, the Presidents General of communities, and the people to cooperate with the government and security agencies in safeguarding the state, adding that doing so would ensure effective information flows and intelligence gathering.

He further said, “Thanks to our foresighted leadership, streets once suffocated by thugs can breathe easily again. Upper Iweka, Onitsha’s core, now pulsates with a fresh rhythm, free from the clutch of fear. Christmas calls, and joy spreads.

“As security forces are standing ever watchful and our roads are shining free of bumps, festive spirit will surge unrestricted.

“Even the traffic will be moving to a safer, smoother rhythm. The attentive eyes of the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency, ARTMA, will be directing the traffic flow, while law enforcers will be keeping guard against festive madness. Pedestrians can walk freely, revellers can savour carefree celebrations, and Christmas markets can sparkle with joy day and night, unscathed by shadows of fear.

“But should tragedy strike, fear not. Ambulances will be buzzing reassuringly nearby, ready to assist, care for, and comfort. Our medical champions will be standing on standby, ensuring every heart throbs with joy.

“So come home without hesitation. Governor Soludo has put all necessary, detailed measures for the security of lives and property in place, hand in hand with our security agencies and our local communities.

“Together, we will celebrate Christmas and the New Year immersed in peace, infused in joy, and radiating in the warmth of homecoming.
