Relief for Okpe residents as Dafinone delivers free Healthcare to grassroots

Hundreds of residents of Oreorokpe, headquarters of Okpe Local Government Area, and neighbouring communities in Delta Central have benefitted from a free medical outreach facilitated by the Senator representing the district, Ede Dafinone.

The outreach targeted indigent and underserved residents, offering treatment for various ailments, free medications, and corrective eyeglasses, in a bid to ease the rising cost of healthcare at the grassroots.

Dafinone said the initiative was designed to take quality healthcare closer to the people, particularly those unable to access medical services due to financial or distance barriers. He added that the programme will extend to four strategically selected towns across Delta Central to widen its impact.

Represented by his Okpe Liaison Officer, Mr. Yegbeburu, the senator noted that the outreach is part of his broader health interventions, which include the construction, renovation, and equipping of healthcare centres across the district.

“I remain committed to providing qualitative and result-oriented representation at the Red Chamber while ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach our people,” he said.

Medical services were delivered by a team led by Mr. Matthew Uruejoma, who supervised diagnosis, treatment, and distribution of drugs.

Stakeholders, including outreach coordinator Mr. Henry Esiri and Border Community Development Agency Supervisor Mr. Ovie Esievo, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation, noting that the intervention had relieved them of significant financial burden, with some pledging continued support for the senator’s grassroots-focused representation.
