Prince Uchie secondus to Anioma Nation: PDP family is proud of  your son, Gov Ifeanyi Okowa

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus was in Delta State on Saturday 21st April, 2018 to join the good people of Anioma Nation and Deltans to celebrate and honour his friend and incumbent governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

The event which was held at Cenotaph attracted members of PDP National Working Committee (NWC), Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu, Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike and other top political leaders and party chieftains.

Secondus who was visibly happy and active throughout the event said Gov Okowa has proven to be a reliable, trusted and focused leader despite huge challenges of providing dividends of democracy in a recessed economy; occasioned by lack of vision and anti people socioeconomic policies and programmes introduced by APC and Buhari administration.

“PDP is very proud of your son and governor, Senator Okowa. His landmark achievements are visible for all to see in just three years of this administration and shall do more from now till 2023.

“What I see here today further gave credence to the good governance strides of the governor and it is only fair that you stand by him, support him, pray for him and re-elect him in 2019,” Prince Secondus added.

Angered by President Buhari’s uncomplimentary statement where he referred to Nigerian Youth as lazy folks; Secondus berated Mr President, saying that such negative, untrue and unpatriotic vituperation in foreign land is unacceptable and very sad.

“It’s really strange for the President of Nigeria to so demoralize our youth who struggle daily to survive in an APC induced economic recession. The productive sector of our nation’s economy is manned and controlled by our youth as major drivers of growth process, providing the much needed skilled and unskilled labour.

“Mr President’s comment, to say the least, is capable of killing the enthusiasm of our energic and hard-working youth who in 2015 worked day and night as INEC ad-hoc staff during the general elections. They play key roles in nation building. There is little or nothing we can do to move our country forward without our youth.

“There can be no partisan politics without our youth, neither can there be a country nor a great future without the youth. It beats everyone’s imagination for an incumbent president of our great country in the person of Buhari, to write-off the present and future of the most important people in the chain of leadership, the youth.

“I want to say, here and now in Delta State, that Nigerian youth are not lazy. They are intelligent, innovative, hard Working and above all, they are the leaders of tomorrow.

“Some youth are already occupying sensitive positions in government, agencies, departments and commercial companies in different parts of the country. Greater number of them are resource persons and professionals in public and private sectors of our nation’s economy.

“APC government has failed and the solutions to our nation’s problems are at sight. PDP has been reinvigorated, rebranded and focused more than ever before to take our sick country back from APC.

“PDP will revive our economy, grow the economy and make it one of the fastest growing economies in the world as was the case before they messed things up. We shall clean up Buhari-APC mess from 2019.

“No amount of intimidation can stop us from taking back our country and heal the socioeconomic wounds inflicted on her by the APC national government and Buhari administration. APC blame game government is dead and buried.

“They are going to use EFCC, the police and armed forces to intimidate and harass us but that won’t work. It will worsen their case because Nigerians are now wiser; wise enough to know that the APC change mantra has failed.

“Their vindictive and paddy paddy fight against corruption is now a laughing stock around the world.

“Buhari and APC are bad products, allien to Nigerians. PDP is the patriotic party for Nigerians and we must take our PVCs and vote out APC and President Buhari in 2019,” Secondus added.

Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike described Gov Okowa as a special breed politician who over the years sustained high standard leadership qualities that cannot be ignored.

He said Okowa has done well for Deltans within three years in office; considering the harsh economic conditions that President Buhari and APC government slammed on Nigerians, needlessly.

“No political party can defeat Okowa in Delta State. You people should ask APC federal government to show you what they have done for Deltans since 2015, in terms of infrastructure and socioeconomic development.

“They (APC) did nothing and will get nothing in 2019. It’s not a joke to embark on 116 road projects, create jobs and wealth for Deltans as can be seen in Okowa administration.

“The prudent management of resources by Gov Okowa is visible which is why we are here today to support him, celebrate him and to say vote Okowa Again in 2019,” Gov Wike added.

The climax of the event was the motion moved by a Senior Journalist and writer, Newton Jibunor for the adoption of Gov Okowa as the sole candidate of Anioma Nation in 2019 governorship election. The governor was consequently adopted amidst thunderous ovation, jubilation, accolades and great speeches.

Gov Okowa’s adoption as sole candidate for 2019 governorship election completes the circle of senatorial endorsements. In 2017, Delta Central of Urhobo Nation adopted Gov Okowa as sole .candidate and was followed closely by Delta South at a meeting attended by leaders of that senatorial district including; immediate past governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, incumbent Deputy Governor, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro, Senator James Manager, etal.

With the circle of senatorial endorsements concluded, it’s clear that PDP Delta State under the capacity Chairman, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, will have lesser work to do in 2019.

We await the APC candidate for the electioneering tackles in 2019.
