President Tinubu Inaugurates Lagos Red Line Rail Project

In a significant milestone for Lagos State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, commissioned the Red Line Rail Mass Transit project.

The inauguration took place in the presence of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife Ibijoke, the Deputy Governor Obafemi Hazmat, state commissioners, and other dignitaries.

The Red Rail Line is a 37 km rail line with 13 stations, connecting key bus terminals at Oyingbo, Yaba, Oshodi, Ikeja, Ebute Metta, Iju, and Iddo.

It also offers a connection to the international and domestic wings of the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

With the capacity to transport 1.1 million people daily, the project is set to revolutionize transportation in the state.

In a statement on his official X account, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of the project in improving the city’s mobility and reshaping its urban landscape.

He also highlighted the potential for increased opportunities and sustainable development as a result of connecting critical points across Lagos.

The Mass Rail Transit (LMRT) project is seen as a beacon of progress, illuminating the path to a future where the city moves smoother, faster, and more efficiently.

It is not just about the journey from point A to B, but about how each journey brings the community together, making Lagos a place to thrive.

The inauguration was attended by Governors Usman Ododo (Kogi), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

This event marks a significant step forward in the development of Lagos State, with the potential to transform the lives of its residents and the city’s future.
