Police arrest 6 cultists allegedly involved in Sapele killings

Police authority in Delta State has arrested 6 cultists alleged to be members of Aiye Confraternity for allegedly killing one Abowa Osawe along Shell Road, Sapele, Sapele local government area of the state.

Their arrest at the wee hours of Wednesday followed an intelligence which Sapele Division got to the effects that one Abowa Osawe, has been shot and killed by four men suspected to be cultists in Sapele, promoting the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Harrison Nwabuisi, to mobilize to the scene, and arrested four suspects.

According to the press statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edafe Bright, on Wednesday, disclosed that; “the Divisional Police officer CSP Harrison Nwabuisi quickly mobilized men to the scene, and commenced investigation immediately. With the combined effort of the police and vigilante, five suspects, including Timothy Clark, 27 years, Patrick Mbuk, 29 years were arrested.

Others are, “Gift Omofeye, 26 years, Ogburang Samuel Ibe, 31 years and Onyekachi Amadike, 24 years were arrested in connection to the murder”, adding that on interrogation, confessional statement of the suspects led to the arrest of one and Andrew Eleya 26 years, AKA Pounds who has been a notorious cultist, terrorizing Sapele before now.

Bright added that yellow cult regalia, one locally-made pistol, and two cartridges were recovered from him while the vehicle used in the dastardly act, a red Toyota Camry with Reg No. AAA409 GL was recovered, stressing that the suspects confessed to be members of the Aiye cult.
