Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has ruled out any talks with terrorists or criminals. He made this clear on Friday during a Democracy Day Town Hall Meeting in Jos.

Mutfwang said his administration will not entertain negotiations with violent elements. Security agencies must press ahead with decisive action against attackers, he insisted.

"Negotiating with criminals is not an option. We will continue to push them out of our communities," the governor told the gathering.

He noted that security operations across Plateau have been stepped up through joint efforts with security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders. These coordinated moves are already showing results in troubled areas, according to him.

Several suspects linked to violent attacks have been arrested through these intensified operations. The arrests are opening fresh investigative leads and giving security agencies valuable intelligence, Mutfwang said.

Ongoing probes are helping uncover larger criminal networks behind some attacks, he explained. Government has backed security agencies with logistics and intelligence support.

Mutfwang commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resolute backing of security forces. He said the president's clear directives have boosted operational response across Nigeria.

Peace won't come quickly, the governor cautioned. But government remains committed to sustained operations until lasting stability returns to Plateau.

He called for deeper partnership with traditional rulers, religious leaders and community groups. Peacebuilding efforts must bring everyone to the table, Mutfwang stressed.

On agriculture, the governor disclosed major new support for farmers. His administration has secured about 5,000 trucks of fertiliser for distribution across the state.

Government is expanding agricultural programmes to boost food production and rural incomes. These moves target farming communities struggling with productivity challenges.

Water supply remains a top priority for his administration. Mutfwang described it as essential to development in the state.

A major water project valued above N30 billion is underway in Lantang South and Lantang North areas. Work is also ongoing at Yakubu Gowon Dam and Liberty Dam.

Additional water schemes are being rolled out in communities like Madok Village. Some projects are nearing completion and will soon be handed over.

Mutfwang said these interventions tackle longstanding water shortages across the state. They're aimed at raising living standards for residents.

His administration remains focused on balanced development across multiple sectors. Agriculture, water, health, education and infrastructure all need sustained investment, the governor noted.
