Kylian Mbappé has eclipsed Miroslav Klose's World Cup scoring record after finding the net twice in France's 3-0 demolition of Sweden. The 27-year-old France captain now has six goals and two assists at the tournament, moving ahead of Argentina's Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot.

Mbappé's brace lifts him above Messi, who has matched his six-goal tally but with no assists. Both players have now surpassed Klose's previous all-time World Cup record of 16 goals.

The win secured France's passage to the Round of 16. Mbappé's clinical finishing continues to terrorise defences as he chases further tournament glory.

All-time World Cup top scorers now stand: Messi with 19 career goals, Mbappé with 17, Klose with 16, and Brazil's Ronaldo with 15.
