PDP Governors Urge Federal Government to Address Economic and Security Challenges or Resign

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have called on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to either address the economic and security challenges faced by Nigeria or step down from power.

The governors, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, have expressed concern about the rising food prices and economic difficulties that have made it difficult for Nigerians to afford basic necessities.

The PDP governors have suggested that Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu is on the verge of becoming like Venezuela, a country that has been plagued by economic and political instability.

In response, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has dismissed these claims as mischievous and has pointed out that many of the PDP governors have failed to fulfill obligations such as paying minimum wage, gratuities, and pensions.

The PDP Governors Forum’s Director General, Cyril Maduabum, has clarified that the governors’ suggestions and advice were offered in a patriotic manner as contributions from a group of governors actively involved in governance.

The Forum has also praised President Tinubu for organizing a special meeting to address the issues raised and has urged that the resolutions of the meeting be implemented.

The Forum has emphasized that there is only one economy in Nigeria and that hardship and suffering have no tribal, religious, or party colour.

They have called on the Federal Government to mobilize all organs and tiers of government for sustainable solutions to the problems faced by the country.

The PDP governors have urged the Federal Government to either address the economic and security challenges or resign from power.

They have also emphasized the importance of cooperative federalism and have expressed their willingness to work collaboratively with President Tinubu to find lasting solutions to the difficult situation created or exacerbated by the APC since 2015.
