PalmPay has given 60 outstanding pupils across Lagos something to celebrate. The fintech company's Young Stars programme rewarded top performers in selected public primary schools with scholarships and school kits.
Nana Sani, a Primary 4 student at Opebi Primary School, stood out as her institution's best performer. She received a scholarship award that her mother called life-changing.
The programme isn't just about money. It's about recognizing excellence and easing the financial burden on struggling families.
During the scholarship ceremonies at Adeniyi Jones Primary School and St. Peter's Primary School, the children shared their ambitions freely.
Some dreamed of becoming doctors, engineers, teachers, pilots and business owners.
Samuel Oluyemi, PalmPay's chief operating officer, addressed the pupils directly. He told them to remain focused, work hard, and believe in themselves regardless of their circumstances.
Oluyemi also conducted a financial literacy session during the event. According to him, education remains the strongest tool for changing lives.
Mrs. Abaleke, mother of one beneficiary, couldn't hide her emotions.
"I am happy and I can't express the amount of joy in my heart," she told reporters at the ceremony.
She added: "I'm overwhelmed by this opportunity PalmPay has given to my child. I'm grateful to PalmPay for this scholarship, may God reward their efforts with success."
School administrators watched the presentations with enthusiasm. They noted the initiative would inspire pupils to take studies seriously.
The assistant head teacher at Adeniyi Jones Primary School thanked PalmPay for its investment. He described the scholarship as more than financial aid—it was motivation for the children.
Parents at both schools expressed deep appreciation for the support. Many families have struggled with rising education costs across Nigeria.
Education advocates say such interventions matter significantly. Millions of Nigerian children still lack access to quality education.
By celebrating academic excellence, PalmPay is keeping hope alive in public schools. The Young Stars initiative is inspiring young learners to dream beyond their current situations.
