Owhorode celebrates 100yrs birthday, 29th coronation anniversary

… Buhari, Osinbajo, Okowa and Emerhor eulogize

President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, Delta State,  Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and others have eulogize HRM Owhorode of Olomu kingdom, Ogbon Ogono, Oghoro I,  Delta’s oldest monarch, who celebrated his 100years birthday and 29 anniversary on the throne over the weekend.

 

This is just as Governor Okowa also used the opportunity to explain the impasse that led to the walkout of monarchs at the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Conference Center, during the one day fact finding visit of the Vice President to the state last Monday, stating that he takes the blame for the embarrassment.

 

President Buhari and his vice, Prof. Osinbajo, who were represented by Senator Babafemi Ojodu, congratulated the monarch on his 100years birthday celebration and 29years anniversary on the throne.

 

According to Babafemi: “President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Federal Government, I say a hearty congratulation to you on your 100years celebration and 29 years anniversary on the throne of your forefathers.

 

“We join the Urhobo nation to congratulate you and thank you immensely for your service to your people and the entire country and we pray that God grant you more grace on the throne in years to come.”

 

In his remark, Governor Okowa on the Owhorode’s anniversary celebration, the governor said: “It is very rear to see someone like our daddy attain the age of 100. I congratulate our daddy and I pray that God would continue to bless and strength you.

 

“As a role model to many, I pray that your life would bring a crown of glory and as Saint Paul said, I pray that you continue to press on.”

 

Also speaking Olorogun Emerhor described the monarch as an enigma, according to him; “as a father and traditional ruler, Owhorode is someone that is worth emulating and an enigma to behold,” adding that the Urhobo nation is blessed for having Owhorode as one of its monarchs.

 

In his comment, the President General of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Olorugun Moses Tiaga, commended Nigerians for celebrating with the Olomu kingdom and the monarch on his 100years birthday and 29 years coronation anniversary.

 

Some other notable Deltans who graced the occasion, Senator Ovie Omo-Agage, Senator Representing Delta central senatorial district at the Senate, Hon. Solomon Awhinawhin, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Monday Igbuya.

 

Others include; Chief Ighoyota Amori, Delta state PDP Chairman, Chief Kingsley Essiso, Deputy State Chairman of APC, Olorogun Cyril Ogodo, over 50 traditional rulers from within and outside Delta, among others.
