Ossai, Ochor celebrates with Ukwuani Nation at Christmas

Two illustrious sons of Ndokwa Nation on Friday brought smiles to many at Umutu, Ukwuani Local Council area, in a carnival like gathering at the Ugbeleme Primary School, to mark this year Christmas and New Year festival of celebration.

The Xmas fiesta jointly hosted by Rt. Hon. Ossai Nicolas Ossai, the Member Representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency and Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor, Executive Director, Social Services Development, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (DESOPADEC), saw people from all walks life gracing the event.

Speaking at the occasion, Hon Ochor said that the celebration was organised to celebrate with the people of Ukwuani and provide for them to joyfully celebrate the Christmas and New Year season.

He also used the occasion to commiserate with those who were victims of the cannon Gun shot at Kwale, Ndokwa West during the final of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) rally which claimed two lives.

He added that the period of the yuletide is a period of showing love to family members, friends, political associates and those who are in the need.

The occasion which was attended by different personalities, including chiefs, men, women, and youths from the area, saw over 800 persons receiving different sizes of bag of rice.

Ochor said that he have been giving out gift at Christmas season in the past quietly but decided to make this years’ own an open distribution because it was a larger celebration, as party leaders in the area, members are also beneficiaries and other political supporters, majority who will collect their seasonal gifts from his constituency office, while that of the traditional rulers and political leaders will be delivered to their homes.

“Before today, I am used to every year giving out gifts during this period, first as a sign of love, which the coming of Christ is all about and also to assists others to celebrate the season without stress”.

He also stated that despite his quite life, he is used to give to others, in the form of medical fees, scholarship and empowerment in businesses.

“Many had also gotten different form of financial assistance for medical and academic needs or any other as the need arises”.

Speaking further, Hon Ochor called on the people of Ukwuani to celebrate the yuletide in peace, love and joy, which is the spirit while Christ was sent to mankind.
