Victor Osimhen has dismissed talk about leaving Galatasaray after Nigeria coach Eric Chelle sparked transfer speculation.
Chelle mentioned the striker's absence from upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal this June. He suggested Osimhen was focusing on a potential club move.
"We miss two players because Victor Osimhen may be about to change clubs," the Malian coach said.
Osimhen hit back on Instagram last night. He claimed Chelle's words were misunderstood and taken out of context.
According to the striker, he'd already spoken with Chelle to clear things up. The coach never meant to stir controversy, he explained.
"He has great respect for Galatasaray and follows most of our games," Osimhen stated. "He never intended to create any controversy."
Osimhen said he values the chance to represent Nigeria. He's eager to keep working with the Galatasaray management going forward.
"I appreciate the conversation and the opportunity to always represent my country," the striker wrote. "I look forward to continuing to work with him."
He called Chelle a great coach worthy of respect. Osimhen urged fans to ignore all the speculation circulating online.
The 25-year-old has been a key player for Galatasaray this season. His comments suggest he's committed to the Turkish champions for now.
