UNIMED's Senate has appointed two professors to leadership positions at the Ondo-based medical university. Patrick Osho and Oyetunde Oyeyemi will serve as Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the institution announced Wednesday.
Osho takes the Administration and Clinical Sciences portfolio. Oyeyemi heads the Academic division.
Before his elevation, Osho headed UNIMED's Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences. He also chaired the Medical Advisory Committee (Diagnostics) at the university's teaching hospital.
According to the institution's Public Relations Officer Isaac Oluyi, Osho brings substantial expertise to the role. His background spans healthcare management, public health, and clinical service delivery.
Osho maintains membership in numerous professional organizations nationwide. These include the Nigerian Medical Association and the Association of Pathologists of Nigeria.
His resume also lists the Medical and Dental Consultants' Association of Nigeria and the American Society of Haematology among his affiliations. He participates actively in the Technical Working Group on HIV/Tuberculosis.
Throughout his career, Osho has held several significant posts. He previously directed pathology at Akure's State Specialist Hospital and managed diagnostic services for Ondo State's health system.
His responsibilities extended to public health coordination and AIDS programme management at the state level. Osho also oversaw blood transfusion services and supervised the Haemophilia Programme statewide.
Oyeyemi brings distinction in parasitology and tropical disease research to his new role. His scholarly work emphasizes translational biomedical innovation backed by international research networks.
Within UNIMED, Oyeyemi has served as Acting Department Head and research committee chair. He previously directed the university's Central Office for Research and Development.
His administrative experience includes leading postgraduate curriculum development across the Faculty of Science. He's also held the position of Sub-Dean for postgraduate affairs.
Vice-Chancellor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe praised both appointments as thoroughly merited. He expressed optimism about their capacity to drive institutional advancement.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the duo will bolster UNIMED's research output and academic standing. He believes their contributions will benefit the university's continued development.
