Evans Ogenyi couldn't hide his joy after Wikki Tourists advanced past Flight FC. The quarter-final clash went to penalties in Jos on Thursday.
Regulation time finished level at 1-1. Wikki won the shootout 4-3 against the Benue visitors.
"I'm happy with the win even though it came the hard way," Ogenyi told the club's media team. According to him, victory was what mattered most in competition.
He acknowledged a concerning moment late in the match. Flight FC's equaliser came after his team lost focus, he noted.
Ogenyi promised to address the defensive lapse before their next assignment. Wikki will meet El-Kanemi Warriors in the semi-final round.
The Bauchi side showed character despite the sloppy defending. They'll need sharper concentration going forward.
