Police in Plateau State have arrested two suspected members of the Sara-Suka cult group. The busts happened during separate operations across Jos.
Alfred Alabo, spokesman for the police command, announced the arrests on Wednesday. He said the operations reflect Commissioner Bassey Ewah's push against crime and drugs statewide.
Detectives from the Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit picked up 18-year-old Adam Abdullahi. He was nabbed at Gengere in Yen Siminti with a double-edged knife and cult regalia.
Officers also recovered a substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine from Abdullahi. The drug is commonly called "ice" on the streets.
In a separate operation, police arrested 20-year-old Khalifa Yusuf at the 011 Prayer Ground. This location sits opposite the University of Jos Permanent Site campus.
Officers found a knife on Yusuf during the arrest. They also recovered dry leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Both suspects remain in custody at present. Police are still investigating the cases against them.
The command says they'll face court charges once investigations conclude. Ewah's team has intensified efforts to tackle cult activity and narcotics trafficking.
