Obi Visits Kaduna Air Strike Victims, Demands Probe

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate in the last election, has urged the Federal Government to investigate the bombing blunder that happened in Kaduna State on December 3.

Obi made the appeal on Tuesday when he went to the Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state, where over 120 villagers were unintentionally killed by the Nigerian army.

He was at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in the state capital, where he interacted with victims who were wounded during the fatal misfire.

The former Anambra governor expressed his grief that the country has witnessed 16 accidental military bombings that took over 500 lives, with nothing being done by the Federal Government to prevent the repetition of such calamities.

Obi, however, emphasised the need for the government to assist the military to ensure that incidents like accidental bombings do not happen again.

He said sufficient funding for the military is vital to addressing the nation’s security issues.
