Nonpayment of Allowance: Delta Assembly Aides urges Okowa, Ibori to intervene

Political aides to members of Delta State House of Assembly has decried their exclusion in the payment of the Out Fit allowance, which was paid to Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) on Tuesday after they called off their strike action.

The Aides, while appealing to former Governor James Ibori and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to come to their rescue wondered why government excluded their names from all forms of allowance.

 

Frowning at the way they have been treated by the government and the leadership of the house, one of the aide to a principal member of the house who spoke to ADVOCATE, saying that they were ought to have been paid Furniture Allowance since assumption of office as political aides but kept waiting for over a year and eight months.

 

ADVOCATE investigation also revealed that the Political Aides to the members of the House of Assembly, have also had huge percentage cut-off from their monthly salaries, to service some members of lawmaker’s constituent, and was relaying on the payment of the furniture allowance, Out Fit, and Training allowances to enable meet up.

 

Another aide who spoke to us in anonymity, urge Governor Okowa to extend his prosperity agenda to them by using his capacity to solve their financial problems through the approval and payment of their furniture allowance and others.

 

They also appealed to former Governor Chief James Ibori to wade into the lawmakers and political aides financial brew and help to resolve it as a National Leader of Delta State Politics and in the interest of PDP ahead of 2019 elections.
