Nigeria’s electricity grid collapsed for the sixth time in 2024, with a significant drop in generation to 64.70 megawatts.
As of 8 am on Monday, the grid was generating only 266.50 megawatts from Okpai, Geregu, and Ibom power.
Jos DisCo confirmed the outage, which occurred in the early hours of April 15, 2024, and affected all its feeders.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria’s Independent System Operator (ISO) provided the latest data on the grid’s status.
The frequent collapses of the power grid have raised concerns about the reliability and stability of Nigeria’s electricity supply.
As the nation grapples with these challenges, stakeholders are calling for urgent measures to address the underlying issues and improve the power sector’s performance.
The situation underscores the need for comprehensive reforms to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply for Nigeria’s population and economy.
