Nigerians Outraged by Abuja Chinese Supermarket’s Discriminatory Policy

An Abuja-based Chinese supermarket has been accused of implementing a discriminatory policy that restricts entry to individuals of Chinese descent only.

This discriminatory practice has sparked widespread outrage among Nigerians, with many taking to social media to express their discontent.

The supermarket, located at the China General Chamber of Commerce along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Road, is known for its Chinese cuisine and beverages.

A resident of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shared their experience on social media, stating that they were denied entry to the supermarket despite being a Nigerian citizen.

The resident expressed shock and disbelief that such a discriminatory policy could exist in Nigeria, a country that prides itself on its diversity and inclusivity.

The discriminatory policy has been met with strong condemnation from Nigerians on social media platforms, with many calling for immediate action to be taken against the supermarket.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afam Osigwe, has also condemned the discriminatory practice, likening it to racism and urging the Nigerian government to investigate the matter to ensure that such discriminatory practices do not continue.

In response to the allegations, the Senior Public Relations Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Nicholas Utsalo, has stated that the Executive Vice Chairman will address the press on the matter.

Utsalo also assured the public that an investigation into the allegations would be conducted.

The discriminatory policy implemented by the Chinese supermarket has raised questions about the treatment of Nigerians by foreign businesses operating in the country.

It also highlights the need for greater awareness and action to be taken against any form of discrimination or racism.

As the investigation into the matter unfolds, Nigerians eagerly await a resolution that upholds their rights and ensures fair treatment in all aspects of commerce and business operations within the country.
