Nigeria's currency weakened against the dollar for the third straight day at the official forex market on Thursday.

Central Bank data showed the naira dropped to N1,363.30 per dollar. This represented a decline from Wednesday's N1,360.07 rate.

Day-on-day, the local currency lost N3.23 in value. The slide continued an uncomfortable trend through the week.

On the parallel market, things looked different. The naira held steady at N1,400 per dollar, unchanged from the previous day.

Foreign reserves, meanwhile, climbed to $50.96 billion as of June 17th. The surge offered some relief to policymakers watching currency pressures mount.

Only Monday had broken the depreciation streak at the official window. Every other trading day this week saw the naira slip lower against the greenback.
