Nigeria's currency continued its downward slide against the dollar on Thursday at the official market.

Central Bank data showed the naira hit N1,380.11 per dollar. That's down from N1,380.07 recorded the previous day.

The decline was modest. It lost just N0.03 in daily trading.

On the parallel market, things stayed stable. Dealers quoted N1,400 per dollar, matching Wednesday's rate.

Curiously, foreign reserves jumped by $51.21 billion on the same day. Yet the currency weakness persisted regardless.

The three-day losing streak marked a concerning pattern. Traders watched as the naira weakened Tuesday through Thursday.
