Nigeria Decides 2019: Buhari defeats Atiku Emerhor’s unit

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC today defeated the Peoples Democratic Party, presidential candidate of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Ward 8, unit 5 where Olorogun O’tega Emerhor the leader of mainstream Delta APC voted in Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to the result announced by the INEC Returning Officer of the unite, Buhari of the APC polled 276 votes to defeat Atiku of PDP who scored 13 votes.

Speaking earlier after casting his vote at Evwreni, unit5, ward 8, at about 11:15am, Emerhor said: “Everybody is excited because we have the opportunity now, to elect the President and National Assembly members of our choice.

“Based on some logistics relating to transportation, they started late, but I think they will extend the time, so that everybody can vote,  am also a bit concerned about the time allocated to each person to vote, I hope the machine will pick up so it would be faster. 

“I encourage my unit, ward and local Government and the State at large to be patient because this is important and will also give directions to the country.

Speaking also, Engr (Dr.) Samuel Adjogbe, Executive Director, Projects in Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, commended the large turnout of voters at Evwreni over their peaceful conduct.

According to him, “the process has been so peaceful and orderly so far, everybody is calm and voting according to the requirements of INEC. 

“I expect Mr. President to win, this is just a re-confirmation we should do, so he should go back for another 4 years. 

“We have passed the message before, the idea is for them to be orderly so that their cote can counted, if you are troublesome, there’s possibility your vote will be disqualified, and your vote wouldn’t count, we have created the awareness and also sensitize everybody, that if you are provoked today, you should not react, the election must be peaceful as much as possible so our vote can count. 

“I have casted my vote and I am standing by to ensure that everything goes on peacefully, and at the end the result will be announced.”
