The National Youth Service Corps has postponed the orientation programme for newly deployed members heading to Niger State.

A windstorm caused severe damage to the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, forcing authorities to shut it down for repairs.

Caroline Embu, the scheme's spokesperson, confirmed the decision in a statement on Wednesday. She said Niger State Government is currently renovating the damaged facility.

Officials are actively hunting for another location to host the orientation course. They haven't yet announced when the programme will restart.

Prospective corps members and their families will receive fresh details about dates and logistics soon, Embu noted. Management expressed regret over the disruption caused by the postponement.

The delay affects all corps members in the 2026 Batch B Stream assigned to Niger. No alternative venue has been publicly named at this time.
