The Ndokwa nation witnessed a historic educational milestone on Friday, March 13, 2026, as the Ndokwa Girls Quiz Competition and Reading Culture Revival Initiative was successfully held at the Main Hall of Ndokwa House.
The landmark event, organised by the You Matter Charity Foundation of Her Excellency, the wife of the Executive Governor of Delta State, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, in collaboration with the Ndokwa Neku Union Women Wing, attracted a large gathering of community leaders, education advocates, and stakeholders committed to promoting academic excellence among girls in Ndokwa land.
Her Excellency, who was the Special Guest of Honour, was represented by Mrs. Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, whose presence added colour and prestige to the occasion.
In her remarks, the Governor’s wife urged youths to revive their reading culture and sharpen their intellectual abilities for a better tomorrow and to provide worthy representation of their communities. She also challenged parents and guardians to continue supporting and investing in the education of their children and wards, stressing that “education is the only good legacy parents could bequeath to their children.” She further promised to continue supporting the Ndokwa Neku Union Women Wing toward the sustained actualisation of the Ndokwa Girls Quiz Competition and Reading Culture Revival Initiative.
Mrs. Guwor, who delivered an encouraging speech on behalf of the Governor’s wife, inspired both the competing students and the audience, urging the young participants to remain committed to academic excellence and personal development.

The National Women Leader of the Ndokwa Neku Union, Barrister Cynthia Oputa-Governor, expressed deep joy and satisfaction over the success of the programme, describing it as the fulfilment of a long-held dream for the Ndokwa people.
“It was a turning point yesterday for Ndokwa nation. It was a day the NNU Women Wing delivered a landmark project through which our future, as a people, is roundly pronounced,” she said.
Barrister Oputa-Governor further noted that the atmosphere at the event reflected the true spirit of unity among Ndokwa people, praising the participating students for transforming what was meant to be a micro academic contest into a vibrant intellectual showcase.
“At the event, we could see the true spirit of a united Ndokwa. Our school girls were true to form as they turned a scholarly micro-competition into a national intellectual contest,” she added.
She also commended the support of Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, noting that the backing of the Governor’s wife played a crucial role in the successful execution of the programme.
The NNU National Women Leader further acknowledged the immense contribution of the Director General of the You Matter Charity Foundation, stating that the foundation not only participated physically in the programme but also played a key role in project coordination and the orientation of the participating school girls.
The event attracted an impressive gathering of prominent Ndokwa leaders and stakeholders including Fidelis Tilije, Johnson Opone, Obi Nzete, Solomon Ajede, Julie Umukoro, Chinonye Dafe, Mary Chidi, Benedicta Osakuni and Johnson Omoni, among many other distinguished personalities who graced the occasion and added colour to the event.
