Ndidi shines as Leicester thrash Southampton to go top of Championship

Leicester City moved to the top of the Championship table with a convincing 4-1 win over Southampton at St Mary’s on Friday night. The Foxes scored four goals from four different scorers, including Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who netted his third goal of the season in all competitions.

The result means that Leicester have won five of their six league games so far, scoring 11 goals and conceding only five. They are two points clear of second-placed Preston, who play Plymouth on Saturday. Southampton, meanwhile, are seventh in the table, seven points behind Leicester. They have lost their last two games by an aggregate score of 9-1.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers praised his team’s performance and singled out Ndidi for his contribution. He said, “I thought we were outstanding from start to finish. We scored some fantastic goals and defended very well. Wilfred Ndidi was immense in midfield. He broke up play, drove forward, and scored a great goal. He’s a very important player for us, and I’m delighted with his form.”
