Niger Delta group  that styles itself as Niger Deltans for Equity and Justices (NDEJ), has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for nominating credible Niger Deltans into the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC .Engr Sam Adjogbe, NDDC EDP

The group also lauded the APC leader in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor over his role in the nomination of two outstanding Deltans, Engr Adjogbe Samuel, Executive Director, Project and Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo Delta State representative on the board.

The group stated this after an emergency meeting held in Warri, Delta state, urged those yet to get appointment from the APC led government to be patient with the administration, noting that surely all stakeholders will be accommodated in future appointments.

In a press statement issued at the end of the meeting which was signed by Comrade Monday Oyeghe, National Coordinator and Comrade Larry Olaremi, Spokesperson of the group, they called on those agitating over the NDDC board appointments to shelter their sword.

According to the group; “what Deltans and APC in Delta State should be agitating for is to get what is due to the state from the federal government, not to be fighting ourselves over appointments given to the state already.

“Delta state is one, and the APC in Delta is a united family, so the fear that parts of the state would be shortchanged following the recent nomination by Mr. President of two credible Deltans into the NDDC board is misplaced.”

They added that the current agitations form a section of the state will place Delta state at a disadvantage position when other states are fighting to attract appointments and projects to their states.

The group also stated that there is nothing controversial about the nomination of Engr Adjogbe Samuel, an Urhobo from Delta State as the Executive Director, Projects, EDP in the proposed Board, stressing that what the NDDC Act envisage is state representation and not ethnic representation as some are canvassing in Delta.

According to NDEJ; “the section NDDC Act that some Itsekiri group groups are quoting on tenureship talks about state interest and not ethnic interest where there is vacancy.”
