Nasarawa United will battle Ikorodu City in a Federation Cup semi-final on Wednesday, June 17. The match takes place at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Head Coach Mbwas Mangut says his squad has worked tirelessly to reach this stage. He's determined to push forward toward the final.

"We have worked so hard to get to this level," Mangut told reporters. "That alone has motivated the team to do more."

Nasarawa United has struggled historically at this tournament stage. They exited the semi-finals last year after previous quarter-final disappointments.

Mangut acknowledged the bitter taste of missing continental qualification through the league. He's now focused on securing the trophy instead.

"Having another opportunity, we can't afford to make the same mistake," he stated. "We really want to do all it takes to advance."

He appealed directly to the team's supporters in Benin City. Mangut asked fans to believe in his players and stand firm.

"I want to apologize for not getting the continental ticket through the league," the coach said. "We have an opportunity to do that now through this competition."

Despite acknowledging challenges within Nigerian football, Mangut rejected excuses. He insisted the team continues improving across all departments.

"We're working, and now we don't want to rely on those excuses," he noted. "We want to give our best."

Nasarawa United has never won the Federation Cup. This semi-final represents their best chance at capturing silverware.

"We have given them hope," Mangut said of his supporters. "We are very close to it, and we can't relent."

He urged strong attendance from fans traveling from Nasarawa State. Mangut promised the team would deliver its best performance in Edo State.

Victory secures a spot in the final and a berth in next season's CAF Confederation Cup. Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan already qualified for the continental competition.
