Mohbad’s Death: Police Seek Primeboy As Prime Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has declared Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, wanted over the death of Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The police said Primeboy is a prime suspect in the case and has failed to honour their invitations for questioning.

Mohbad, 27, died at a hospital in Lagos last month under mysterious circumstances. His death sparked a huge outpouring of grief and anger among his fans, who demanded a thorough investigation. Some of the fans accused Naira Marley, a fellow Afrobeats star and former boss of Mohbad, of having a hand in his death. Naira Marley denied the allegations and said he had returned from abroad to assist with the investigation.

Mohbad had a bitter fallout with Naira Marley last year after he left his Marlian Records label, where he had been signed for three years.

He accused the label of abusing him and withholding his deserved payments.

Naira Marley dismissed his claims as lies and said he had no ill will towards him.

The police have exhumed Mohbad’s body for an autopsy, but the results have not yet been released. A coroner’s inquest is due to resume on October 13. The police have also detained Sam Larry, a music promoter, who is assisting them with their investigations.

The police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that Primeboy is wanted for interrogation and other investigation activities. He urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call the following numbers: 0800-123-4567 or 0800-765-4321. He also announced a reward of one million naira for anyone who provides useful information that leads to Primeboy’s arrest.

Primeboy is a childhood friend of Mohbad and a singer himself. He was accused of hitting Mohbad during his performance at Ikorodu, which allegedly resulted in his death. He has denied any involvement in the incident and said he was only trying to protect Mohbad from unruly fans.
