Soldiers working with other law enforcement agencies have arrested 46 people suspected of entering Nigeria illegally in Ogun State.
Spokesperson Idereghi Samuel Akari of the 35 Artillery Brigade made the announcement on Sunday. He said the operation started on June 11, 2026.
The arrests happened across Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese and nearby areas during the targeted raid. Investigators found the suspects had no proper travel documents.
According to Akari, they'd been living in the state for around six months without authorization. "During questioning, they told us they worked as traders and staff for QNet," he noted.
QNet is an online sales platform that deals in various products. The detainees claimed involvement with the company's operations.
Eighteen of the arrested came from Burkina Faso. Twenty-three nationals from Côte d'Ivoire were among them.
Four Togolese citizens and one Senegalese national made up the rest. The group included 36 men and 10 women.
Immigration authorities now have custody of all 46 suspects. Nigeria Immigration Service officials in Ogun will conduct further questioning and take necessary legal action.
Akari confirmed the handover took place following proper procedures. The suspects face potential deportation pending the investigation outcomes.
