Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State expressed satisfaction on Saturday following the successful rescue of students and staff from Oriire local government area. He pledged that his administration would honour those who died during the operation.
Makinde visited the rescued victims at a military hospital in Ibadan where they're receiving treatment. He said his government would give them full support to recover and reunite with their families.
Taking to X (Twitter), the governor remembered the civilians and military personnel who lost their lives in the rescue bid. "Our administration will ensure that they did not die in vain," he said.
He added: "We will continue to provide the necessary support needed for their full recovery and reunite them with their families."
Makinde prayed for the souls of those who died and asked God to comfort their grieving families. "May their souls rest in peace," he wrote on the social media platform.
