Late Nollywood Makeup Artist Abigail Frederick Reburied in Akwa Ibom After Tragic Boat Accident

The remains of the talented Nollywood makeup artist, Ms. Abigail Frederick, who tragically lost her life in a boat accident alongside Nollywood star actor Junior Pope, have been reburied in her home state of Akwa Ibom.

The ceremony, sponsored by the Akwa Ibom state government, took place on Monday, April 15th, 2024.

The accident occurred last week while the Thespians were returning from a movie location on the Anam River in Anambra State.

Abigail was initially buried by the river bank because her parents were unable to pay the villagers for rituals and the cost of bringing her remains home for burial.

However, the situation was brought to the attention of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, who had previously expressed his condolences to the family.

Governor Eno then ordered the exhumation of her body from the riverside and arranged for it to be transported to her home state for a proper burial.

Governor Umo Eno’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Ekerete Udoh, spoke on behalf of the governor, emphasizing the state’s commitment to honoring the memory of the young artist.

Udoh stated, “One of the victims of that accident, Ms. Abigael Edith Frederick, was a quintessential example of our young people who have hearkened to our clarion call for them to ‘Arise and Shine’.

She was a 24-year-old graduate of Theatre Arts, who had found her passion as a make-up artiste.”

The state government’s involvement in the reburial of Abigail Frederick highlights the importance of honoring the memory of those who have passed and supporting their families during times of grief.

The tragic loss of such a young and promising artist serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
