“Lagos State Government Takes Action to Remove Illegal Structures at Mandilas Market”

The Lagos State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Mandilas Market for two days.

This move is aimed at allowing for the removal of illegal make-shift structures erected on road setbacks within and around the market.

The decision was made following a joint inspection and enforcement exercise carried out by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) in conjunction with some law enforcement agencies and other relevant government agencies in charge of emergency-related matters.

The exercise was prompted by the expiration of the 14-day self-removal notice given to the traders to remove their wares and shops from the roads, especially around Mandilas on Lagos Island.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser on e-GIS and Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, the closure is necessary to ensure safety compliance and to create a more organized and clean city environment.

The government is sending a strong message to Lagosians to be law-abiding and to comply with the directives given.

The Lagos State Government’s decision to shut down Mandilas Market for two days is a proactive step towards ensuring safety compliance and maintaining a well-organized city environment.

It is a clear indication of the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens and its determination to enforce the rule of law.
