Lagos State Government Lifts Ban on RTEAN, Dissolves Parks and Garages Committee

The Lagos State Government has lifted the ban on the activities of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state.

The ban was initially imposed in September 2022 following a series of disputes among union members.

The decision to lift the ban was made after careful consideration and extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, including members of the association, the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the general public.

The move is aimed at fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among union members and ensuring smooth transportation services within the state.

As part of the settlement, the Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators’ Committee, which was established to manage parks and garage facilities in the state, has been dissolved with immediate effect.

This decision is expected to help improve collaboration between the government and the transport union, ultimately leading to enhanced services for the public.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on transportation, Sola Giwa, has urged all parties involved to adhere strictly to the terms and conditions of the settlement for peaceful and sustainable operations in the transportation sector.

He also called for cooperation and collaboration among stakeholders to build a better transportation system that benefits all Lagos state residents.

This development comes as a relief to many Lagosians who have been facing transportation challenges due to the ban on the activities of RTEAN.

With the ban lifted and a new committee in place, the state government hopes to create a more conducive environment for transportation services and improve the overall experience for commuters.
