Lagos PDP Chairman Regains Freedom After Four Days in Captivity

he kidnapped Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Philip Olabode Aivoji, has been released after spending four days in the hands of his abductors.

Aivoji was abducted on Thursday while returning from a PDP South-West stakeholders’ meeting convened by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan.

The news of his release has brought a sigh of relief to his family, friends, and party members, who had been praying for his safe return.

The Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, confirmed the release, stating, “We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers; and to thank you all for your concerns and prayers.”

The incident has once again brought to the fore the issue of insecurity in Nigeria, with many calling for more decisive actions from the government to address the situation.

Kidnapping for ransom has become a prevalent issue in the country, and the government’s inability to tackle the menace is deeply concerning.

The release of Aivoji underscores the need for urgent action to ensure the release of all those held in kidnappers’ dens in various parts of the country.

The Lagos State Police Command had earlier confirmed that 10 travelers were kidnapped along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, but only Aivoji was held captive after the suspected kidnappers were engaged in a fierce battle.

The release of Lagos PDP Chairman Aivoji is a welcome development, but it also serves as a reminder of the work that needs to be done to address the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.

The government must take decisive action to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, and put an end to the menace of kidnapping for ransom.
