Lagos Computer Village to Undergo Residential Transformation

Lagos State Government has recently announced its plan to convert the popular Ikeja Computer Village into a residential area, as it is currently located in a residential zone by law.

The relocation of the electronic gadgets’ center to Katangua in Abule Egba has been delayed due to certain reasons, but the government is addressing these issues to ensure a smooth transition.

The decision to move the Computer Village to Katangua is based on the area’s excellent road network, which is expected to minimize traffic problems.

The expansive land in Katangua is well-suited for the relocation, as it can accommodate the market’s growth and provide essential facilities like banking, clinics, schools, and storage.

While the exact cost of the relocation is difficult to determine due to fluctuating building material prices, the government is committed to controlling the costs and ensuring a fair transition for the market traders.

They will be provided with secured title to their new stores, enabling them to take loans and invest in their businesses.

Consultations with market leaders and the development of the Katangua site are already underway, with the government emphasizing a gradual and collaborative approach.

The relocation is expected to maintain the status quo of the thriving market while adhering to the law and promoting the well-being of the community.

As the transformation of the Lagos Computer Village progresses, it is crucial to keep an eye on the development of the Katangua site, as it will not only provide a new home for the market but also offer improved infrastructure and amenities to support the growth of the electronic gadgets’ center.
