Lagos residents must stay home on Saturday for the monthly sanitation exercise. The cleanup drive runs from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on May 30.

Tokunbo Wahab, the state's Environment and Water Resources Commissioner, made the call on Thursday. He praised how people participated when the programme restarted in April.

Wahab stressed that cleanliness matters for health and growth. He wants residents using those two hours to clean homes, drains, and public spaces.

The commissioner noted compliance was strong last month. He's now pushing Lagosians to show up in even greater numbers this time.

This sanitation exercise is now permanent across Lagos. Wahab made that clear in his Thursday statement to journalists.

First Lady Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu will monitor efforts in Alimosho Local Government Area. State Head of Service Olabode Agoro takes charge of Apapa LGA.

All 57 Local Government Areas and LCDAs will help oversee the exercise. The state wants a cleaner environment from every corner.

Lagos has positioned compactor trucks throughout the state. They'll remove waste quickly during and after Saturday's cleanup.

Wahab urged residents to develop lasting cleanliness habits. He warned against dirty surroundings and poor hygiene practices.

Using cart pushers for waste disposal is illegal, he cautioned. Private Sector Participation operators now serve more communities across the state instead.

Residents who skip cleaning their surroundings face warnings. Violations could lead to prosecution, Wahab added sternly.

He told people not to dump refuse in drainage channels. Unauthorised dumping sites won't be tolerated going forward.

Lagos is committed to staying clean, hygienic, and flood-free. That's the government's promise to all residents statewide.
