Kogi: Soldiers Take Over REC’s Residence After Attack

It was a confirmed case of assault on the home of INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Gabriel Longpet.

The Commissioner of Police in Lokoja, Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, who spoke to the press on Friday, called the incident “a wicked and unfortunate act.”

He said that the assailants showed up at the REC’s residence around 3:00 am on Friday but met with strong opposition from security agents.

“The good news is that the miscreants failed in their evil plot as my men bravely fought them off and set their vehicle ablaze.

“As we speak, there are troops guarding the house along with our staff to ensure security.

“Also, all the roads leading to the house and INEC office have heavily armed policemen and soldiers on alert to prevent any mishap,” he said.
