Joe Igbokwe, an APC stalwart, has taken a swipe at activist Omoyele Sowore over his constant criticism of President Bola Tinubu. Igbokwe believes the detained activist has made insulting the president his full-time occupation.
Sowore landed in Kuje Prison on Monday following a court order. An Abuja Federal High Court remanded him after he allegedly refused to appear for his ongoing trial.
The charges stem from remarks Sowore made on social media. He is accused of calling President Tinubu a criminal in posts online.
Igbokwe responded swiftly on Facebook, backing the court's decision to remand the activist. In his words, abusing the president "is not a career."
According to him, Sowore has consistently violated the law over many years. The APC chieftain listed several incidents he attributed to the activist.
"Nigeria is not a lawless country," Igbokwe wrote on the social media platform. "Sowore has taken the law into his hands for years now—street protests, disturbing public peace, abusing officers, encouraging killers in the South East, insulting PBAT.
These are not a career."
