Jigawa Government Provides 27k Rice Bags and 10,800 Spaghetti for Ramadan Relief

The Jigawa Government has announced the approval of the procurement of 27,000 bags of rice and 10,800 cartons of spaghetti to be distributed as a Ramadan gesture.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa, made this announcement on Wednesday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to cushioning the impact of high food prices on residents.

The State Executive Council approved the Memorandum presented by the Ministry of Special Duties during its meeting on Monday.

The council acknowledged the need for relief in the 1445AH/2024 Ramadan Season and approved the procurement of the aforementioned items.

The gesture aims to alleviate the hardship faced by residents due to the high costs of food items in the market.

In addition to this, the council also introduced a special program called the “Jigawa Worker Agricultural Support Scheme” (JWASS).

This program is an agricultural inputs loan designed to help civil servants at all levels achieve food security.

An Extra-Ministerial committee will be formed to coordinate the JWASS, led by the Head of Service and other members, including the Commissioners of Finance, Women Affairs, Information, and Local Government Affairs.

The committee will also have representatives from the organized Labour – NLC and TUC, with the Ministry of Justice providing the secretariat and a Secretary.

The agricultural revolution led by Governor Umar Namadi has been a driving force behind the government’s efforts to ensure food security and support its people.

This latest initiative by the Jigawa Government demonstrates their commitment to the well-being of their citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.
